My concept is that when you are born, you are dealt a certain hand of cards that gives your life meaning. When you die, these cards are returned, reshuffled, regrouped, and given back to you in a systematic, meaningless order events.

I think using card as metaphor is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to figure out the type are "standing" on the cards, it is a bit hard to see that. it will be interesting if you can solve that...or maybe just let the letters to "ly" on the card?
I like the way you interpret the story and the image you made. I can feel the movement of reshuffled cards falling to me. I also suggest the angle of text on card to be the same angle with the card's edge so it could be look like the type is printed on the cards. Also, giving gradation on sentences(gray to black), I think it could give more perspective to the text on cards.
ReplyDeleteI think I have pretty much the same suggestion, of making the text look like it's printed on the cards.
ReplyDeleteAlso thinking maybe spreading out the cards a little, all the ones with text are at the top at the moment. Maybe even out the poster , by adding some blank ones at the top and filled ones at the bottom? I feel like it would add more to the random order, because they feel a little ordered at the moment.
i agree that the card idea is nice, maybe you can hand letter the type onto the cards so it will look more realistic to "cards" instead of just having the type going into the area. because of the type, is taking away the (shuffling) of cards
ReplyDeleteThanks, that was my idea too! Manipulating the type on illustrator is so annoying/hard
DeleteI can feel the cards being handed out to me and it fits in the concept really well. However, I think if you were to make the cards, I suggest putting each of the different topic on each card. For example, one card has only sleeping, the other showering, etc. I feel that all the cards has to be filled up in order to know your life is given in 'systematic, meaningless order events.' And if its in random order, maybe the cards should be placed in random too?
ReplyDeleteI like the movement about this poster, it is a really good idea. I think on card have different topic is better than lots of topic on the same card. Maybe you can using different typeface to shows the different feeling about each topic.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the card is a good metaphor for your concept. I'd suggest placing texts on random cards instead of putting them on the top half, to enhance your concept about randomness of events.
ReplyDeleteI like the concept that you using cards. I think combine the real handwrite letters with your poster is good idea.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments. I believe I would be more nice if letters on cards have same angle as the cards.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very successful poster in terms of idea and a visual solution. Nevertheless, you need some refinement.
ReplyDelete1. I would try to type (or wrtie) with one typeface one subject on one rectangular shape card, print it out and photograph on an angle to create a sense of perspective more naturally. Then, you can encrease the contrast and receive the same result of stark black and white, but with much stronger type.
I probably don't recommend to write—it will feel more personal, not "given" to you and it will be difficult to read.
2. I would also try to create a gradation—from white cards with black type, to white type filled the card and only then—pure white card.
3. Maybe the cards wouldn't have such sharp aggressive corners, but rounded lightly? I
4. I also would like to see top smaller cards empty and lower—bigger and with the text. They will "land" falling from above. It also will be easier to read on big sizes cards.
Looking forward to see the improvement.
maybe make the text perspective, so they'll be like on the card
