John McGough - SUM poster advice.
Hello everyone, This is John from our Thursday afternoon class. I
submitted my SUM poster, but we did not get a chance to fully critique
it. I was told that the concept was too drastically different from the
original poster, therefore there were more things about the poster that
needed to be analyzed. Professor Olga had only stated that the poster
was too busy, that there are now 3 main points you need to look at in
the poster, and it makes it too busy. The Message had changed however
between the last class and the newest class. What I took away from the
SUM story was a sense of "Identity". I wanted to represent Life being
your Identity, and the branches of life would be the choices and
decisions in life that were represented in the SUM story. But please,
any advice will help me. The Blue Poster was the Original poster, and
the Black and white one is the one I designed last week.

I think the roots could look more like roots, if you make little lines that branch off of the bigger ones, I also don't think you need to double up on the lines to make a root.
ReplyDeleteI think "Sum" could be smaller and you could make the brain tree larger, a little bit, and move the horizon line down. I would include the bottom line of text into the root section and maybe the top line of text too. Or if you want it separate from the roots maybe you can put it at the branches in the tree.
I agree with the idea that the roots could be more like roots. If you add more curves to the text line, and make diverse size of roots coming out from bigger roots, I think it could more look like organic tree roots. I also suggest the root part to be look far more full and complex. The "sum" text could be placed bottom of the poster with much smaller size.

it will be really hard to read

and yeah, the "sum" to be smaller or at least put it lower
combine the top and bottom text or just put it into the some place of the tree

just pick the one you like...
i'm not sure about the color, and the sum in the middle is huge maybe smaller?
