heather lee_SUM poster

Hi, I am Heather lee

My concept is interpretation of time.

my reaction to “SUM” was that it was telling me to spend time more wisely by listing every little thing you do that takes up your lifetime. But we often forget that time is always passing and we are not so conscious about our choice of actions because we don’t see the progress of time in a tangible form. I wanted to show how the activities have different values. Also wanted to express that our life is only given certain time by the word SUM taking up the background.

Last week:

  1. I really like all the plus signs that cover the poster, I understand that all those things are supposed to be added together and I think it really works for your concept.

I'm not sure what the > and < on the sides mean.

But I do believe that this weeks poster better represents your concept and I understand that all those things are added together to create the total sum

  2. I think the "SUM" is working very good as the background
also the color (pink?) of the plus sigh is nice too.
Maybe I miss that, but seems like you didn't put the author's name and the 1st paragraph...?

  4. I think your new poster presents your concept clearer than last week's.

I can see your reaction that you realized to spend time wisely by listing every activity, as you arranged all experiences with plus signs. I think it works very well.

However, I think it does not show well the different values of each activities that you said. I see you varied the size of types but It's still similar to represent different values. So my suggestion is to giving more contrast in size or color of types, or using different typefaces, so that it clearly show the difference.

  5. i like this weeks poster, maybe you can make the type and the plus signs into a mathematical formula...? it just didnt look like plus signs, until you said it was, it looks more like a decoration or stars. maybe because of the pinkish color of it too. the sum in the background is nice, you should keep that

  6. I can see the concept more than the first! well done. Does ">" represent the timeline? I like how the addition both relates to your concept and the title of the book

  7. I like the back grand 'sum', I think is really worked for your poster. However, I did not feeling your concept 'interpretation of time' from this poster.

  8. I can see this week's poster is much stronger than the last one. The way you use plus sign as the element in the poster is really clever. In my opinion, I think type could be more organized because you already created a layout by those plus signs vertically and horizontally, which is really nice. Also maybe " < " and " >" are not really necessary.

  9. Maybe if the plus signs and the time spans were inside the SUM, I could better understand your main concept (im guessing??) is that these time measurements are what make up the "sum" of our lives. If that's what you're going for then I think you got it visually: especially how the "SUM" looks in the background. I get that it's crowded, in limited space.

Right now it seems like you want to express a lot of things, but I think It'd be easier to express your concept if you boil it down to one thought.

I also agree with the ">" being a little out of context, or with not enough context.

  10. I see this week's poster's more successful in reflecting your concept. I think it's really interesting that you used word SUM to fill background to express we're only living certain limited amount of time.

  11. I think your new poster is better than last week's regarding to the concept.
You arranged all the things are done in a schedule like style, i really like how you use this to show that we should spend time more wisely. but the type is a little bit squeezed together, maybe scatter them a little?
