Yes, I agree that there is some potential in overlapping circles., especially in color—makes a lot of sense—overlapping senses. Type is not resolve yet. It is difficult because one word is short and another—long, but there is a way to make it work. The word could be a straight line, but the circles the way we see them now. I don't think you need to break the words also conceptually because there is an overlapping effect in the word itself (eyes/scream) and by breaking it you don't give us a chance to enjoy our own discovery that it has overlapping meaning and sound. You help us and make it clear, while we can really appreciate and experience double purpose—sight and hearing.
I actually really like the two circles with color.. i like the transparency of the first one on top of the second one.. I would go with that one
